Located between Beniatola and Shovabazar, Kumartuli or the potter's colony is famous for its numerous talented artisans, who are responsible for creating magnificent Durga idols with clay. The settlement has been in existence since the colonial period and over time has gained international recognition for its fine craftsmanship and artistry. The area is associated with the age-old practice of Durga puja and contributes significantly to the cultural identity of the city and its collective intangible heritage. The walk will delve into the historical narrative of Kumartuli and look at the area's transformation over the years.
