Join CNU-CTX on Saturday, May 7th for our first walking tour of 2016. This year, we're kicking it off with a Walk, exploring an important Austin street through the lens of the life and work of Jane Jacobs and celebrating her 100th Birthday.
Jane Jacobs' urbanism and activism championed a fresh, community-based approached to city building. Her seminal work, and indictment of urban planning in the middle of the 20th century, The Death and Life of Great American Cities remains one of the most influential books ever to be written about the importance of cities and the failures of modern urban planning to recognize their essential economic functions.
We're looking forward to exploring the successes, shortcomings and opportunities that are presented by Manor road and consider what a Jane Jacobs approach might be in shaping this important and evolving city street and the neighborhood it runs through.
After the walk, please join us at in.gredients for conversation about Jane Jacobs, community, activism and urbanism.
