The Shelby Street commercial corridor is a critical connector between Southside neighborhoods, including Garfield Park and University Heights, and the University of Indianapolis. This walk will build on a 2013 Jane Jacobs walk starting from Garfield Park Conservatory and going north, toward downtown Indianapolis, ending at Shapiro’s Delicatessen. There will be two Walk options: a shorter walk through the neighborhood, and a longer Walk all the way to the University of Indianapolis.

On Wednesday, May 7, neighbors, students, and other community stakeholders will walk south to explore ways to connect with the University of Indianapolis through commercial development, walkability and bikeability.

This Walk will use the social media hashtag #janejacobsindy.
