“Jane Jacobs (1916-2006) was an urbanist and activist whose writings championed a fresh, community-based approach to city building. A firm believer in the importance of local residents having input on how their neighbourhoods develop, Jacobs encouraged people to familiarize themselves with the places where they live, work, and play.
The Jane Jacobs Walk will be a walking conversation and offer a personal take on the local culture, the social history and the planning issues relevant to the Georgetown. Conversations will revolve around interesting insights and stories about Georgetown and also encourage people to share their own opinions and observations. The walk is recommended for anyone who enjoys getting to know the city and wants to participate in meaningful conversations about the social and built future of the city.”
